The pendant allows you to summon help without having to get to the phone. When activated it accesses a 24 hour emergency monitoring service. Discounted rates available for the disadvantaged.
ASHFIELD Council has partnered with Ashfield Fire Station and NSW Fire Brigade to pilot a new program of free smoke alarm installation and battery replacement for elderly and disabled residents who are isolated. The Smoke Alarm Battery Replacement for Elderly (SABRE) program is an initiative of the NSW Fire Brigade.
Safety Link provides a 24 hour personal response service for the frail aged, disabled or anyone who may spend time alone. At the push of a button which connects directly to the monitoring centre, Safety Link will arrange for assistance from carers, family or emergency services, depending on individual care plans. There is also a Daily Call option which provides reassurance to people who do not have daily contact with others.
The Aged Care Assessment Team provide assessment, rehabilitation, organisation of appropriate residential and community services, including respite care, for people over 65 years. Comprehensive assessment is carried by a multi- disciplinary team include: medical doctors, nurses, Occupational therapist, speech pathologist, physiotherapist, neuropsychologist and social worker. ezySOS Pty Ltd provides a unique and innovative service available to anyone who wants to live independently in their own home - for longer. The ezySOS system provides up to six "panic" buttons in key locations, close to the floor, around the home. When a panic button is pressed, a wireless signal is sent to the special ezySOSphone. This action automatically calls a family member, friend, a carer, or the front desk in a complex to obtain urgent help.

Financial subsidies towards equipment for people with disabilities. Equipment has to be for long term use. Occupational therapist at local Community Health Service or ACAT can do assessments and make applications. For nebulisers a supporting letter from treating GP required. $100 annual co-payment. Assistance also with oxygen and concentrators (GP report with blood oxygen levels under 55 POT and SAT level of 90 necessary to obtain free concentrator). If oxygen is assessed as life sustaining - no waiting time if eligible. Application forms from Community Health Centre or GPs.
