RuralAccess - East Gippsland

RuralAccess is a community development project that has a goal to enhance the capacity of rural & regional communities to plan & provide support for the people with disabilities & their families to maximise opportunities for community membership & participation. RuralAccess can be contacted if information is required by people with disabilities, carers & families or for people to provide feedback on where changes are necessary to work towards inclusive communities.

SNAP Gippsland Inc

A psychiatric disability rehabilitation support service. Provides psychosocial rehabilitation programs to adults with a psychiatric disability resulting from a mental illness. Programs are designed to build on existing strengths, increase self esteem & assist in the jouney to recovery. Home-based Outreach Support Srevices are offered in the Bairnsdale, Sale & South Gippsland / Bass Coast areas. Day Programs are provided out of SNAP's bases in Bairnsdale, Sale, Yarram & Orbost. Referal can be self, doctor, psychiatrist or other health professional.

BALLARAT

Access for All Abilities - Central Highlands

Aims to develop and support sport and recreation environments that are inclusive of, and accessible to, people with disabilities. Objectives include increasing awareness of sport and recreation environments that include people with disabilities, to influence local level planning to include people with disabilities and to increase the range and number of sport and recreation environments that include people with disabilities. Activities available at present includes cricket, croquet, cycling, hockey, little athletics, lawn bowls, racquetball, soccer, table tennis, ten pin bowling, wheelchair basketball and accessible walking tracks.

A diverse range of services are provided in a holistic and culturally appropriate manner for Koori people of all ages.

Ballarat YMCA

Provides lifestyle programs which offer a short 6 week health and fitness program aimed at providing opportunities for all age and ability levels. The YMCA is also a registered training provider and delivers a number of accredited courses which are prerequisites for those seeking employment in the recreation industry, updating their qualifications or acquiring new skills.

Central Highlands Sports Assembly

Funded by Sport and Recreation Victoria, this service aims to assist local communities to provide quality and inclusive opportunities for people of all abilities for involvement through sport and recreation. Objectives of the program are to improve the capacity and capability of community sport and recreation organisations to deliver quality sport and recreation opportunities. To strengthen linkages between clubs, local councils, schools and other groups. To provide advocacy and strategic advice on local level sport and recreation issues and to increase community awareness of the opportunities and benefits of participation in sport and recreation activities.

Eastwood Leisure Complex

Hosts a variety of social groups, support groups and other recreational activities for all ages. Provides room hire for various groups.
